Ingredients (for 4 people) :
- 400 g spaghetti
For the meatballs :
- 400 g ground beef
- 50 ml milk
- 1 egg
- 25 g Parmesan cheese
- 25 g breadcrumbs
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 onion
- 1 tbsp. chopped parsley
- olive oil
- salt and pepper
For the sauce :
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 onion
- 2 tbsp. tomato paste
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tbsp. dried oregano
- 3 large tomatoes, peeled
Preparation:
Prepare the meatballs
Peel and chop the garlic and onion. Mix all ingredients in a bowl: egg, breadcrumbs, meat, garlic and onion, Parmesan and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
With moistened hands, shape into eight dumplings, 2 per person.
Heat the olive oil in a large, high-sided frying pan. Place the meatballs in the pan and brown for a few minutes on all sides. Remove and set aside.
Prepare the sauce
Peel and chop the garlic and onion. Sauté for 3 minutes over medium heat, stirring constantly. Add the peeled tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano and bay leaf, and season with salt and pepper.
Add a large glass of water, cover and simmer for 30 minutes over low heat.
Add the meatballs and continue cooking for a further 30 minutes.
Preparing the spaghetti
At the end of the cooking time, cook the spaghetti in a large volume of boiling salted water. Serve per plate with a ladleful of sauce and two meatballs, then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
